zooey has taken a liking to sleeping on the stool, for some reason.

finally, i got a new wallet.
thank you, urban outfitters at bridgeport village for having exactly what i wanted.
also, a successful trip to anthropologie. i think i have a new favorite sweater. that store is dangerous - i wanted everything in there. yikes.

it was a little morbid, i suppose, to have shark cupcakes surrounding the brownie sailboat. (which is, in fact, one of chad’s biggest fears.)
it was a fun night though. we went out to dinner here, and came back to our place for desserts.
reed and i are quite dorky in photos.
oh, and, the apple pie was quite tasty. (a miracle?)
chad, we are really going to miss you.
(why are there no photos of you at your own party?!)

march fourth: the day of the great apple pie experiment.
i wonder how it will taste. (for chad’s sake, i hope it is good!)
yes, i know my lattice is not woven. the crust dough was too finicky, i could barely cut it into strips.
i definitely don’t recommend the ikea apple corer. it works fine for apples like galas or golden delicious, but i almost broke my arms off (six times) trying to get it to pierce the skin of a granny smith.
this pie could not have been possible without mum and dad reeder - if they had not given us that amazing paring knife, i would have given up at the first apple. i can’t imagine how awful it would have been to peel apples with a steak knife!
most recipes (i combined two recipes i found online) call for eight apples. i don’t know if my pie pan is just small, or if my granny smiths were just big, but there is no way on earth that eight sliced up granny smiths were going to fit in my pie pan. i couldn’t even fit the six that i cut up.
i did (amazingly enough) peel two (of six) apples with just one cut each. i love it when that happens, the peel is so long!

last night’s experiment: brown sugar pound cake. it was okay. not bad with tea.
of course, i did spill brown sugar all over my cookbook.
i’m enjoying having my ipod in a knit case these days.

don’t you think tayvee looks a lot like reed as a baby?
